Rayerschied

Rayerschied is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality simmering / Hunsrück.

Geography

The rural municipality lies in the Hunsrück Rayerschied between Pleizenhausen and Benzweiler, 7 km from simmering.

To Rayerschied includes the residential places Berghof and Wagnermühle.

History

In a deed of foundation of the Church in Mörschbach from the year 1006 is Heriradessneida ( Old High German for: forest boundary of Herirad ) mentioned. This place is identified by some historians with Rayerschied. Other historians see in this name a pure tree line and no evidence of a settlement. In respect to Rayerschied often mentioned deed of gift of Henry of Dycke to the monastery Kumbd from the year 1204, the place is not explicitly mentioned. In 1420, Count Palatine Stefan acquired the area around Rayerschied of Bertram of Vilvil, who acquired the property through his wife Else by Reiffenberg, and of Eberhard von Schonberg. Rayerschied is mentioned in the accompanying documents Reuss Raid or Reuspraid. The place was so that the newly formed Principality of Pfalz- Zweibrücken - simmering, later Palatinate - simmering. In 1523, the Assizes of Kumbder court, so the judicial district of lying around the monastery Kumbd areas that were previously held to Kumbd under the linden tree were moved to Rayerschied. In the boundary description of the Kumbder Court of 1560, the town is mentioned as Rairschiedt.

In Rayerschied appears in the 16th century the persecution of witches to have prevailed to a considerable extent. This is supported by two judgments in 1530: Deckers Leyse from Rayerschied is burned as a witch on the gallows to simmering and Vincent Alsa from Rayerschied after they had been sentenced to death as a witch at the stake, bought out by a man with 50 thalers.

1673 Rayerschied came after the death of the Count Palatine Ludwig Heinrich of the Palatinate. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War temporarily again occupied by the French, the place since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate was newly formed.

Parish council

The local council in Rayerschied consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
