Neuerkirch

Neuerkirch is a municipality in the midst of the hilly landscape of the Hunsrück in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality simmering / Hunsrück.

Geography

Neuerkirch is centrally located in the Hunsrück between simmering and Kastellaun, right on Schinderhannes cycle path on an average altitude of 360 m above sea level. The agricultural area comprises 250 ha, 200 ha of forest area The Külzbach flows through the village, was once considered the creek as a political border between the two originally independent villages Neuerkirch on both Neuerkirch beyond. The local church Neuerkirch operates in conjunction with four other municipalities a kindergarten located within the neighboring Alterkuelz.

History

Archaeological finds from the Neolithic Age report a settlement on the site of the village. The first mention was made in the year 1302. Neuerkirch beyond the Külzbaches long belonged to the Duchy of Palatinate -Zweibrücken, Neuerkirch this side of the Külzbaches to Pfalz- Palatinate and simmering. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops Neuerkirch was French, 1815 Neuerkirch was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Until 1938 Neuerkirch was on both sides of the Külzbaches of two separate communities. After the First World War at times again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

The local church operates the Cultural History Museum since June 1989. The core of the museum dates back to the collection of the Museum in Hunsrück simmering. After three years of preparation, it was inaugurated and opened to the public. The aim of the museum is to document farming tools and machinery, old trades workers and their products as well as the village living culture of yesteryear. A significant expansion they learned through the willingness of the Hunsrück population to put the museum objects of historic village culture for exhibition purposes. The residential and commercial building in which the museum is housed, including the local community Neuerkirch.

Parish council

The local council in Neuerkirch consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

1979 the municipal council decided to introduce a municipality coat of arms. The front shield part refers to the former membership of Neuerkirch beyond the Duchy of Zweibrücken (Official Kastellaun ). The wave bar is a reference to the Külzbach, the Neuerkirch separated into two districts. The Church suggests talking the place name, hammers and mallets make reference to the silver melt at the district boundary.

Economy and infrastructure

Until the 19th century, among other things coined the ore, zinc, iron and silver mining and processing of mineral resources in the economy Neuerkirch, the mining and smelting on the boundary of the neighboring community Alterkuelz took place. From the pit oath slag heaps are preserved today. What remains are only hints in the local coat of arms and a few unique items in the mining museum.

Neuerkirch lies on the route of the former Hunsrückbahn, the simmering and Boppard Association. The village was able to use the lying directly at the border to Külz Külz station, which was demolished after the closure of the route. Today, the tourist heavily used Schinderhannes cycle path on the converted railway line.

The formerly dominant agriculture is almost entirely disappeared, so that in this area only a full- time farm and several part-time farms are left.

The project development company juwi operates since 2011 the wind farm Neuerkirch with eight wind turbines of the type Enercon E -82 located on the north-east of Neuerkich ridge. Another plant of the type Repower 3.2M114 with a capacity of 3.14 MW has been applied.

Culture and sights

The cultural life is dominated by three clubs. On the 2nd Sunday in July, the traditional artisans and farmers' market takes place in the historic center. In the museum and on the museum forecourt of the sponsoring organization, together with partner organizations for a varied cultural offer, among other things with vintage car show and open-air cinema.
