Wiebelsheim

Wiebelsheim is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Sankt Goar - Oberwesel.

Geography

Wiebelsheim located on the eastern edge of the Hunsrück plateau at about 440 m above sea level, bounded on the east by the Upper Middle Rhine, the Valley of the Loreley, there separates the Rhine Hunsrück from the Taunus. Wiebelsheim has 631 inhabitants on an area of 7.32 square km.

History

Wiebelsheim probably written between the years 800 and 1000 AD. By 1400 the Wiebel Heimer in 1392 created in Damscheid altar prebend and the Oberwesel Church of St. Martin were slammed. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops part of France.
