Ober Kostenz
Upper Kostenz is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography
The rural residential community located in the Kyrbachtal centrally located in the Hunsrück. The district has an area of 5.84 km ², of which 2.06 km ² of forest.
History
As in Lower Kostenz there was an early Roman settlement. A burial ground dating from the 1st century in 1939 and 1949 exposed at the current county road 10 for Hunsrückhöhenstraße. The first written mention is in 1220 in a goods classification of the Abbey of St. Maximin. 1286 to 1333 is busy, who held a fief sponheimisches a local noble family in Upper Kostenz. Later, the Elector was ruler of the Rhine. The church on the site was from 1689 to 1896 a Simultaneum. Today's Protestant church dates from 1745, the tower is probably medieval. Parish council
The local council in Upper Kostenz consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Churches
The Evangelical Church of St. Upper Kostenz, which included blacks, merged in 1978 with the parish Todenroth, which also came Kludenbach and Metzenhausen to top Kostenz. Parish Officially upper Kostenz with Würrich, since November 2008 connected to Sohren.
Economy and infrastructure
Upper Kostenz is dominated by agriculture and handicrafts.
Wind energy
On a hill east of the community of the Wind Park Upper Kostenz is currently with seven wind turbines manufacturer Vestas and Enron. The commissioning of the Enronräder occurred in 2000, the mills were created by Vestas in 2006.
