The community of Sunstone is a rural municipality in the northern part of the calibration field in Thuringia. The administrative center is the place White -Lüderode.

Geography
Location
The rural community of Sunstone located in the southern foothills of the resin directly on the border with Lower Saxony. Neighboring municipalities are Herzberg and Bad Lauterberg in the district of Osterode in the north, Hohenstein in the district of Nordhausen in the east, on Ohmberg, Haynrode, Leinefelde- Worbis, Brehme and Ecklingerode district calibration field in the south and Duderstadt in the district of Göttingen, in the west.
Named is the rural community after the Sunstone, a 486 meter high mountain in Holungen. Sunstone is located about 45 kilometers east of Göttingen and about 30 kilometers west of Nordhausen.

History
Sunstone was formed on December 1, 2011 from the voluntary association of municipalities Bockelnhagen, Holungen, Jützenbach, Silkerode, Steinrode, Stöckey, White -Lüderode and ferrule. Even before the places in the administrative community Eichsfeld- Suedharz were united.
