Webster Parish, Louisiana
The Webster Parish (French: Paroisse de Webster ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In the census in 2010, the Parish had 41 207 inhabitants and a population density of 26.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Minden.
Geography
The Parish is located in Northwest Louisiana, bordered to the north by Arkansas, is located in the west about 55 miles from Texas and has an area of 1593 square kilometers, of which 51 square kilometers of water surfaces. It is bordered by the following Parishes and Counties:
History
Webster Parish was formed in 1871 from parts of the Bienville Parish, Bossier Parish and of the Claiborne Parish. It was named after Daniel Webster (1782-1852), a former foreign minister of the United States.

According to the census of 2000, there were 41 831 people in Webster Parish. Of these, 936 people were living in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 16,501 households and 11,567 families. The population density was 27 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 65.51 percent White, 32.83 percent Black or African American, 0.34 percent Native American, 0.19 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.22 percent from other races groups; 0.86 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.90 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 16,501 households out of which 30.4 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.7 percent were married couples living together, 16.3 percent were single mothers, 29.9 percent were non-families, 27.0 percent of all households and 12.9 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.99.
In relation to the parish the population was spread out 25.6 percent of residents under the age of 18, 8.6 percent between 18 and 24 years, 26.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.6 percent between 45 and 64 years and 16.3 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.
The median income for a household was $ 28,408, and the median income for a family was $ 35,119. Males have a median income of $ 30,343, women $ 20,907. The per capita income was $ 15,203. 15.3 percent of families 20.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. This included 29.6 percent of children and adolescents under 18 years and 16.1 percent of seniors aged 65 and over.
