1898 Home Nations Championship
The 1898 edition of the Tournament Home Nations Championship in the sport of Rugby Union ( later the Five Nations, or Six Nations ) could not be completed. Wales was boycotted by the other associations, as the Welsh team captain Arthur Joseph Gould had received financial compensation and this was considered as unauthorized professionalism. It was not until Gould's resignation solved this problem.
