2001 Six Nations Championship

Six Nations 2001, the second edition of the annual rugby union Six Nations tournament. The course of the tournament was strongly affected by the outbreak of foot- and-mouth disease in Great Britain. There were drastic travel restrictions in force, in particular between the UK and Ireland. For this reason, three games of the Irish national team, had to be postponed until the final control of the disease. These games were then rescheduled for September and October 2001. The tournament victory finally secured England, thanks to a better points difference.
