1972 Five Nations Championship
The 1972 edition of the annual rugby union Five Nations Tournament (since 2000 Six Nations ) had to be stopped early because of the conflict in Northern Ireland, so there was no winner. After Bloody Sunday in Derry, the British Embassy in Dublin was burned down by an angry mob and numerous players had received threatening letters. Scotland and Wales refused to come to still forthcoming away games in Ireland and reasoned that the lack of security.
