1897 Home Nations Championship
The edition of the tournament in 1897 Home Nations Championship in the sport of Rugby Union ( later the Five Nations or Six Nations ) could not be completed. Wales was boycotted by the other associations, as the Welsh team captain Arthur Joseph Gould had received financial compensation and this was considered as unauthorized professionalism. It was not until Gould's resignation solved this problem.
