1963–64 Bundesliga

The Bundesliga 1963/64, was the first season in the Bundesliga. German champion was the first FC Cologne. The first round of the national league of men was held on 24 August 1963.

Season overview

The newly founded Bundesliga has served as the sole highest national league from the top leagues. The championship was played in a double round of 16 teams. Have been approved for the Bundesliga from the Oberliga Nord: the North German champions Hamburg SV, Werder Bremen and Eintracht Braunschweig. The reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund, the German vice-champion and West German champions 1.FC Cologne, the Meidericher SV Preußen Münster and Schalke 04, also came from the Oberliga Süd five clubs, the Süddeutsche Master: From the Oberliga West came five clubs 1860 München, the 1st FC Nuremberg, Eintracht Frankfurt Karlsruher SC and VfB Stuttgart. In addition, the West German masters came 1.FC Kaiserslautern 1.FC Saarbrücken from the Oberliga West. Berlin was represented by Hertha BSC, the Master of the Berlin city league.

The 1st FC Cologne dominated this first season, he stood since Matchday continuously at the top and in the end had six points clear of second-placed Meidericher SV. Preußen Münster and 1.FC Saarbrücken rose from the Regionalliga. Scorer was Uwe Seeler Hamburger SV with 30 goals.

Since it was the first Bundesliga season, there were a number of firsts: The first goal of the story shot Friedhelm " Timo " Konietzka Borussia Dortmund after 58 seconds at Werder Bremen (final score 3-2 for Werder ), ranked first reference cashed Helmut Rahn from Meidericher SV on matchday against Hertha ( Full 1:3 for Berlin).
