Background
On the weekend before the France -GP, which took place this year at an unusually early date, the only not for the World Cup scoring Formula 1 race of the 1983 season was held at Brands Hatch. Training

Race
Behind the leader Prost followed first Patrese, Cheever, Piquet, Arnoux and from eleventh place from Patrick Tambay started.
In the second round Patrese was first overtaken by Cheever and shortly thereafter by Piquet. As the Italians in the 19th round was eliminated due to an engine failure, Tambay moved up to fourth place. In lap 18 Piquet at Cheever was over reaches the second place.
