1989–90 Austrian Hockey League season
The 1989/90 season of the Austrian Hockey League was played with eight teams. Champion for the fourth time in club history the VEU Feldkirch.
Participants and mode
After the pre-season the number of participants was expanded from six to eight teams. The KSV Hockey Club and the ATSE Graz both the master and the runner-up in the National League rose to the highest performance level.
The eight teams played in the regular season four times against each other. Subsequently, a play-off was held at which the first against the 8th, the 2nd against the 7th, the 3rd to the 6th and the 4th to the 5th of the fundamental passage in a best-of -five series played. The winners of these matches played in the semi-final ( also best of five) to the finals, the losers played in the lower play-off a best-of -three series, the losers, played a best-of -three series against relegation in the National League ..
