The season 1990/91 was the 54th season of the Hungarian Hockey League, the highest Hungarian Hockey League. Champion for the 20th time overall in club history Ferencvárosi TC. The Sziketherm HC Dunaújváros and Újpesti Dózsa SC II descended into the 2nd league.

Mode

First, the eight teams contested a common main round before the top four teams played in the final round, the two winners to qualify for the championship final, while the remaining four teams competed in a relegation round, descended whose two last placed in the second league.
