1992 Meistriliiga

The Meistriliiga 1992 was the first official match time of the highest Estonian soccer division of the masters of the Meistriliiga, after independence from the Soviet Union. The season was discharged and continued with the 1992/93 season, after the Estonian Football Association the system from the calendar year rhythm on autumn / spring Ground surrounded in spring 1992.

Course of the season

The league consisted of 14 teams, champion FC Norma Tallinn. Relegated to the Esiliiga were the JK Viljandi Tulevik and FK Maardu. The JK Maag Tartu remained First class after Relegation against Kreenholm Narva.

The championship was first divided into East and West group. Each team came here once against every other team. After 6 games in which all teams were each once been held in their region against each other, the league was divided into two groups with the top eight and six inferior teams. After the teams of each group played each once ( championship round, relegation round ) against each other. The first table of the championship round was thus Estonian football champions. The two last placed the relegation round Tulevik JK Viljandi and FK Maardu rose directly from the Esiliiga, the third table Last JK Maag Tartu played in the relegation. The Estonian Football Cup was not played this season. As the reigning champion Norma Tallinn Estonian failed in the Champions League season 1992/93 in the first qualifying round to NK Olimpija Ljubljana.
