1997 FIVB World Grand Prix

The 1997 season of the Volleyball World Grand Prix was the fifth edition of the competition. It began on 8 August and ended on 31 August. Russia won the title for the first time.

Mode

During the preliminary round came at eight teams. In the first two weeks two tournaments with four teams took place in parallel; in the third week there was another tournament. The three best teams in the standings qualify alongside hosts Japan for the final round, which was " every man for himself " played according to the mode.
