2001–02 Interliga season

The season 2001/ 02 of the Inter League was the third staging of the special successor of the Alps Hockey League Championship and was played with a total of eight teams from five states. Defending champion was the Slovenian team HDD Olimpija Ljubljana, that could defend his championship in the new season.

Participants and mode

The field was not changed as compared to the previous season mainly. The last place HK Bled not this time took part in the league, as well as the penultimate HK Red Star Belgrade (which was also not contested the placement games last season ) and the Ferencvárosi TC from Hungary. Newly added the Serbian team HK Vojvodina Novi Sad and the MIC Dubnica from Slovakia were.

The eight teams played in a double round-trip round. The top four then played in a playoff consisting of the semi-final and final championship. At the same time took place ranking games, in which the final order was decided. Playoffs and classification matches were decided in two games per series, which first counted the victories and the goal rate.

In the second game, a penalty shoot-out on the master had to decide on the basis of goal difference. Here the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana had the better end for themselves and could thus defend last year's title.
