2006 Superbike World Championship season
The Superbike World Championship 2006 season was the 19th in the history of the FIM Superbike World Championship. With twelve events 24 races were held.
Scoring
World Champion will be the one driver or the designer, which until the end of season the most points accumulated in the World Cup. The distribution of points, the placings in the overall results of each race are taken into account. The fifteen first-placed rider in each race will receive points according to the following scheme:

- World Champion Troy Bayliss returned before the season after three years in the MotoGP class in the Superbike World Championship back and was able to immediately secure his second title. After the season, he ventured once more a MotoGP trip and won on the Ducati Desmosedici last race of the season at the Grand Prix of Valencia.
- The Italian Pierfrancesco Chili finished end of the season after 278 races and 17 race wins at the age of 42 years, his career and now holds the record for at contested races in the Superbike World Championship.
- The German Max Neukirchen was replaced with Team Honda Klaffi by the Brazilian veteran Alex Barros and therefore started the season in the private Italian Ducati team Pedercini. Due to recurring technical problems for which he has often blamed was given, Neukirchen and Pedercini separated in the course of the season.
