Michel Fabrizio

Michel Fabrizio ( born September 17, 1984 in Frascati (RM ), Italy ) is an Italian motorcycle racer.

In the 2010 season he will start for the Ducati factory team in the Superbike World Championship. Fabrizio occurs, in reference to his birth year, preferably with start number 84. It is called The Wizard ( The Wizard ) by his fans.

As Michel Fabrizio's father is a big fan of Juventus, he named his son after his favorite football player, Frenchman Michel Platini, who played in the 1980s with Juventus and was at that time one of the best footballers in the world.

Career

Michel Fabrizio grew up in Rome. At the age of six he began to deny Mini Moto race and won as a result some of the titles in this category. In 2001 he won the Aprilia Challenge.

125 cc World Championship

In the 2002 Michel Fabrizio debuted on a Gilera in the Team Italia in the 125 cc class of the Motorcycle World Championship. However, he could not achieve the desired results and only came twice in the points, his best result was the 13th place in the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi. With four points, he was only 31 overall.

Superstock Championship

In 2003, Michel Fabrizio Suzuki Alstare team moved to Corona Extra the Belgian artist Francis Batta, where he drove a Suzuki GSX- R 1000 in the Superstock 1000 class, which belonged to the Motorcycle Championship. MotoGP class

For the season 2004 Michel Fabrizio was originally intended to contest the Superbike World Championship for Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra. Due to the change of the technical regulations to Suzuki but decided to not go this season at the start. Michel Fabrizio thus lost shortly before the start of the season his place and had to by another employer around. He eventually got an offer from the team WCM for the MotoGP class of the Motorcycle World Championship, which he accepted. The team suffered from a chronic lack of money and did not start as prescribed with pure prototypes, but put a modified Yamaha YZF -R1 engines that were converted to the MotoGP regulations, as well as with inferior Dunlop tires. The bike was the competition of large Japanese and Italian mills hopelessly inferior and Fabrizio was therefore regularly be found at the end of the result lists. At the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, however, he could make all his skills to the test in the rain. Fabrizio went to tenth place and therefore suggested, for example, riders like Loris Capirossi, Makoto Tamada or Shin'ya Nakano. This result gave him a chance, the Grand Prix of Portugal to replace the injured Shane Byrne regular driver at Aprilia. Michel Fabrizio could not finish the race, leaving Aprilia but a positive impression.

In September 2006 he returned to the MotoGP class and should replace the injured Toni Elías at the Grand Prix of Great Britain in the Honda Gresini team of Fausto. This great opportunity was for Fabrizio but to the great disappointment. The free practice he fell, broke his right collarbone and could not go to the starting line in the race.

Also at the Grand Prix of Germany at Sachsenring in 2007 he replaced at Honda Gresini the turn injured Toni Elías. Fabrizio did a great job and was in the characterized by great heat race in tenth.

Supersport World Championship

After his involvement with Aprilia in MotoGP Michel Fabrizio did not return to the WCM Team. In 2007, Michel Fabrizio started for DFX treme on Honda in the World Superbike Championship. His teammate was in the Australian Steve Martin. Pierfrancesco Chili now worked as a team manager for the team. Fabrizio managed to come regularly in the top ten, his best result of the season, the third place in the second round at Brno dar. With 132 points, he finally reached the eleventh overall.

For the 2008 season Michel Fabrizio moved to the Ducati factory team and started at the side of the two-time World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss on the new 1200 cc Ducati 1098 F08. Already in his third race as a factory driver of the Italians reached in the first run in the Australian Phillip Iceland finishing third his first podium. Overall, Fabrizio reach 2008, seven podiums, but no victory. In the overall standings with 223 points, he finished eighth grade.

In the 2009 season, Michel Fabrizio continues for the Ducati factory team at the start. His new team-mate is the Japanese Noriyuki Haga, who took the place of the retiring as world champion Troy Bayliss. Even before the start of the season saw the Italians with personal bests during test drives in Kyalami, South Africa sensation. In the season Fabrizio started with the fourth and fifth positions in Australia, then was followed by a double failure in Losail (Qatar ). On 10 May 2009, the Italians celebrated his first race win in the World Superbike Championship on the high speed line in the domestic Monza. On August 16, Michel Fabrizio replaced the Grand Prix of Czech Republic in 2009 the Finn Mika Kallio in the Pramac Ducati team.
