2007 IAAF World Road Running Championships

The second road race World Championships ( officially: 2nd IAAF World Championships Running Udine 2007) on the half -marathon ( 21.0975 km ) were on 14 October 2007 in the Italian city of Udine discharged. The race of men was launched at 10:30 clock, the women's race at 12:00 clock.

The track consisted of a small straight in the starting area and a three times continuously forming circuit in the center of Udine, with a difference of 8 meters between the lowest and the highest point. The start and finish were at Piazza Primo Maggio.

In addition to the scores, there were team ratings, in which all countries were included, of which at least three runners or runners had reached the goal. For the evaluation, the three best times of the athletes of the country were added.

Both the Eritreans Zersenay Tadese as well as the Dutch Lornah Kiplagat defended their title from the road race World Championships 2006. Kiplagat presented not only with a 1:06:25 world record in the half marathon on, they also improved with their 20 -km interval of 1: 02:57 her own world record from last year over this distance.

Individual classification

85 reported 82 athletes started the race and finished the race 79. Atsushi Satō from Japan ( 9th place) turned 1:00:25 with a new Asian record. Furthermore, were national records of Cuthbert Nyasango from Zimbabwe ( 10th, 1:00:26 ), Ali Dawoud Sedam from Qatar ( 14th, 1:00:39 ), Nicholas Kiprono from Uganda ( 17th place, 1:00:57 achieved ) and Günther Weidlinger from Austria (No. 23, 1:01:42 ).

A total of 17 teams counted. The Austrian team ( Weidlinger, Martin and Markus Pröll Hohenwarter ) finished in twelfth place with a total time of 3:10:59.

67 reported 66 athletes went to the start and reached the goal of 56. National Records were obtained from Furtuna Zegergish from Eritrea ( No. 21, 1:11:03 ), Angeline Nyiransabimana from Rwanda (ranked 31, 1:12:44 ), Lucia Kimani from Bosnia and Herzegovina ( 36th, 1:12:55 ) and Shermin Lasaldo from Trinidad and Tobago ( 54th, 1:25:37 ).
