2009 German Skeleton Championship

The German Skeleton Championship 2009 took place in Winterberg on 15 November 2008. It was organized by Bob and Luge Association of Germany (BSD ), was hosted by the Bobsleigh and Luge Sport Club Sauerland Winterberg ( Winterberg BSC ), the venue was the bobsled in Winterberg country. The organization's top management had Alois Schnorbus held, the race director was Manfred Schulte. Both belong to the BSC Winterberg. The jury consisted of the marshal of the Skeleton BSD Wolfgang Strauss, who held the presidency and the national coaches Skeleton Bernhard Lehmann and Frank Black.

Because of the tight schedule of the 2008/09 season the championship was held at the beginning of the season and so in 2008. Therefore, the high -assessed Anja Huber, champion of the previous year and the runner- Kerstin Szymkowiak among women as well as Frank Rommel, runner-up last year and Sandro Stielicke missing men. They prepared as part of the America's Cup before the World Cup season. In addition, last year's men's champion Sebastian Haupt was missing due to injury. Thus Katharina Heinz and Mirsad Halilovic were German champions for the first time.

At the start, were as in the previous year a total of 16 participants from eight clubs.

Women

At the start were 21 participants from seven clubs, eight more than last year. Thus, it was the first time a significant majority of female runners, which also corresponds to the international strength of the German Skeleton drivers compared to their male counterparts.
