2011 Bayern-Rundfahrt

The 32nd Tour of Bavaria took place until May 29, 2011 of 25. The race was held in five stages, including an individual time trial, over a distance of 798.3 kilometers. It was part of the UCI Europe Tour in 2011 and was classified there in the 2.HC category.

In the ITT also nine physically disabled cyclist went to the start, including participants in the Paralympics as Michael Teuber and Wolfgang Sacher.

Overall winner was the Briton Geraint Thomas of Team Sky Procycling before Nicki Sørensen ( Saxo Bank SunGard ) from Denmark and Michael Albasini (HTC -Highroad ) from Switzerland.

Invitations were given eight ProTeam, eight Professional Continental teams, including Team NetApp from Germany and four German Continental team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stages

In the first stage of parish churches after Frey city on May 25, five outliers were asked only three kilometers from the finish. It won the Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen in a bunch sprint ahead of André Schulze (CCC Polsat Polkowice ) and Heinrich Haussler (Garmin Cervelo ).

The second stage of Frey city to Bad Gögging on May 26 won the German John Degenkolb before Marcel Kittel ( Skil- Shimano ) and Edvald Boasson Hagen.

In the third stage of Bad Gögging to Aichach on May 27 was over hilly terrain, it could be in bad weather issue a top group at the later overall winner Geraint Thomas of Team Sky Procycling and emerges on the other favorites crucial five minutes. Michael Albasini (HTC -Highroad ) was victorious in the sprint group.

The 4th stage on May 28 was the time trial in Friedberg. The Briton Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) won the time trial and referred to the world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara surprisingly clear on the second rank. Geraint Thomas took fifth place with the yellow jersey.

The final stage of Friedberg to Moosburg on May 29, was marked by the individual motion of Jaroslaw Marycz the team Saxobank Sungard. Only after 140 kilometers Marycz was swallowed about five kilometers from the finish by the peloton. The final stage was won by Italian Giacomo Nizzolo (Leopard Trek) in a bunch sprint in Moosburg ahead of John Degenkolb and Edvald Boasson Hagen.
