The first two events were held in late October in North America, namely in the two Canadian cities, Calgary and Montreal. The second two-game series took place in early December in East Asia with the Japanese city of Nagoya and the Chinese Shanghai as venues. Finally, in early February was followed by the third and final two-game series in Europe with the Sochi, Russia, site of the Olympic Games the following year, and with the World Cup final in Dresden.

At each event, ladies and gentlemen, the individual routes ran once each 500 meters, 1000 meters and 1500 meters. Alternately, one of these three routes was ever run at each event for a second time, in the first and fourth event, the 1000 meters, in the second and fifth event, the 500 meters and in the third and sixth event, the 1500 meters. Thus, each individual section was run a total of eight times. In addition, during men and women in each venue in each case a relay race over 3000 meters or 5000 meters. Finally, there was at each event, separately for men and women, a country rating. In the country ranking, the World Cup points from the relay race and each of the two best athletes or athletes were included with their World Cup points from the individual race. Counted only countries that have each achieved in all five competitions at least one World Cup point.
