2012 Indian Premier League

The Indian Premier League 2012 was the fifth season of the discharged in the Twenty20 format competition for Indian cricket team and took place between April 4 and 27 May 2012. After the franchise Kochi Tuskers of Karela has been excluded for financial reasons, the season was contested by nine teams. Opening match and the final were held in MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the final game, the Kolkata Knight Riders were able to prevail against the Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets.

Players auction

On 4 February 2012, the player auction of the season took place. Here, 140 players were offered to the franchises that were then individually above a fixed minimum amount deliver their bids. Format

The tournament is divided into two phases. In the preliminary round, each team competes against each other in a home and away game, resulting in 72 qualifying matches.
