25th Panzergrenadier Division (Wehrmacht)
The 25th Infantry Division was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht. Later she was in the 25th Infantry Division ( mot ) and then reclassified 25th Panzer Grenadier Division.
History
The 25th Infantry Division was established on April 1, 1936 in Ludwigsburg, in the military district V. On August 26, 1939, the Division was mobilized and relocated to border security in the Saar Palatinate. In December 1939, the Division was withdrawn as a reserve to Neustadt. In February 1940, the Staff of Infantry Regiment 119 and the Second Battalion of Infantry Regiment 35 at the 293rd Infantry Division were issued.
At the start of the Western campaign, the division was Army Reserve of the 12th Army and marched through the Eifel and the Ardennes. On 14 May, the division was moved to the front and advanced to the Aisne between Compiègne and Reims before.
