2nd César Awards
The second presentation of the César Awards took place on February 19, 1977 in the concert hall Salle Pleyel in Paris. President of the ceremony was the actor Lino Ventura. Aired the ceremony, led by the host Pierre Tchernia, the public television channel Antenne 2, France 2 today
André Téchiné's thriller Barocco was with nine nominations as a big favorite of the evening. But only in the three categories Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography, the film could hold its own against the competition, in which Marie -France Pisier with her role in Barocco repeated her win for Best Supporting Actress in the previous year. Best Film was finally Joseph Losey's drama Monsieur Klein, which won a total of seven nominations in the categories of Best Director and Best Production Design. Were first awarded the César Award for Best Short Film categories, Best Animated Short Film and Best documentary short film.
