• Second Gothic war: The Imperial Army Master Belisarius fighting again against the Ostrogoths under Totila in Italy, unsuccessfully besieged Otranto.

• A large-scale attack by the Sassanids in Edessa in the Roman- Persian war fails.

Religion

• Emperor Justinian I quoted Pope Vigilius to Constantinople Opel in order to win this for his Monophysite -friendly policy. Justinian's aim is in particular the condemnation of the three theologians Ibas of Edessa, Theodoret of Kyrrhos and Theodore of Mopsuestia (see: Chapter Three armed ).
