A Storm in Heaven

Occupation

A Storm In Heaven (English: A Storm in Heaven ) is Verve ( then later The Verve ) and was released on 21 June 1993, the first official long-play album by British band. It reached # 27 in the official UK album charts.

Description

The album demonstrates a synthesis of rock and spherical ambient sounds, dominated by the soft to booming and mainly oscillating between, but never taking in on a concrete sound guitar Nick McCabe. These breathed Richard Ashcroft surreal lyrical texts on the stable driving backbone of the rhythm section. Musical comparisons for this avant-garde sound, presenting the Verve on this album were not identify at that time. At most early works of the artist himself can be used, such as the The Verve EP and the B-side collection No Come Down.

Booklet and videos

Was the design of the booklet by Michael Spencer Jones ( photos) and Brian Cannon (design) made in collaboration with Richard Ashcroft. The album cover shows the inside of a cave (see picture), in which the letters of the word ( glz band name ) VERVE in flames. In the background center illuminates the output, which is reminiscent of the shape of the cervix. On the back of the album a tomb is shown, which is wrapped with a cloth bearing the words Verve.

This sheathing symbolism of birth and death in connection with Verve ( within the meaning of the term) is taken up by the songs - lyrically moored at the bow of "Hello it's me ... " (Star Sail- Intro ) to " Goodbye my love. " ( See You in the Next One ... - Outro ). The album reflects the life cycle of a Verve in terms of a creative ( or manic ) phase.

The video clip for the single Blue also plays with this symbolism. During the main part of Blue in a basement (club ) takes place, the band leaves him towards the end of the clip and can be found simultaneously at the output of Thor 's Cave (see picture) again. After Ashcroft and co. (blurred ) must come into the open air, ends the clip.
