Adrian Newey

Adrian Newey, OBE ( born December 26, 1958 in Stratford- upon- Avon, Warwickshire, England ) is a British motorsport engineer and worked in Formula 1 for 30 years. Since 2006 Head of Newey of Red Bull Technology, the design department of the Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing. Previously, he had already worked as Technical Director for well-known teams such as Williams and McLaren and joint responsibility for numerous successes and a total of 100 Grand Prix victories.

Newey applicable in the Formula 1 scene as " design guru " because he designed racing cars mostly were a guarantee of success. Since the early 1990s, won his ten vehicles driver and ten Constructors' world titles and eight and seven runner-up.

Career

In 1980 Newey his training to aerospace engineer at the University of Southampton with highest honors. He immediately began his work in motorsport at first when Fittipaldi team for the Formula 1 and later in March as a race engineer in Formula 2 direct his first project, the March GTP, was a very successful design, with some races are won could.

Personal racing activities

Adrian Newey is also a keen sports car collectors and drivers. So he took part several times in the Le Mans Legend races. In 2006 he drove a Ford GT40 with, however, destroyed the car and injured his finger. Later, he had an accident with a Jaguar E-Type at the Goodwood Revival Meeting.

In 2007 he turned to the modern car race driver and was in the AF Corse team that took part in the 24 - hour race at Le Mans in a Ferrari F430. Newey and his team-mates were a total of 22 and 4th in their class.
