After Bathing at Baxter 's is the third album by the American psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane. It was late 1967 and was published by Surrealistic Pillow, the second studio album by the band this year.

Formation

Surrealistic Pillow was the third place in the album charts and two top ten finishes in the singles charts a successful album for Jefferson Airplane and the record company RCA Victor. For this it was the first major success since Elvis Presley had left the Army .. The nominal producer Al Schmitt therefore gave the band the freedom to each experiment that they wanted to try to pursue. For lyrics and music were on this album, especially Grace Slick and Paul Kantner responsible, they pressed Marty Balin founder of the band so something in the background, the only Young Girl Sunday Blues wrote.

The album

After Bathing at Baxter's contains eleven tracks that are grouped into five "suites". It was a departure from the radio standard song length of the two previous albums and showed Jefferson Airplane in a more experimental direction. Reception

On January 20, 1968, the American Rolling Stone wrote in his review of the album that Jefferson Airplane might be the best rock and roll band of the United States except for a few exceptions. The reasons he leads the strength of the band, both live on stage and in the studio, to the voice of Grace Slick, the compositions of Balin and Kant Ner, and the instrumental skills Casadys, Dryden and Kaukonens.

Bruce Eder of Allmusic considers the album for one of the purest psychedelic rock albums with only a few concessions to the tastes of the masses and not to the radio. and writes that it is not the album for being who begins to hear this band. He gave the album three and a half out of five stars
