Albert E. Rice

Albert E. Rice ( * September 24 1845 in Vinje, Norway, † September 11, 1921 in Rochester, Minnesota) was an American banker, newspaper journalist and politician. He served as the 10th Lieutenant Governor of the State of Minnesota. Rice, a member of the Republican Party, exercised this office on January 4, 1887 to January 5, 1891 the Governors Andrew Ryan McGill and William Rush Merriam.

Born in the Norwegian county of Telemark Rice emigrated in 1860 to the United States. During the Civil War he served in a regiment from Wisconsin; subsequently he settled down in 1866 in Willmar, Minnesota. Later, he embarked on a political career and was a 1874-1875, 1878-1882 and 1883-1886 the Minnesota Senate on before he was elected lieutenant governor.
