C. Elmer Anderson

Clyde Elmer Anderson ( born March 16, 1912 in Brainerd, Minnesota, † January 22, 1998 ) was an American politician and 1951-1955 Governor of the State of Minnesota.

Early years and political rise

Elmer Anderson began broke off to study at the University of Minnesota, but he prematurely. He then worked for the company News Service Inc, which he bought up after a few years and managed. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1939 and 1943, and from 1945 he was a Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.

Governor of Minnesota

Following the resignation of the Governor Luther Youngdahl Anderson had take over his office and close the opened tenure as deputy. On November 4, 1952 he was confirmed as the candidate of his party by the voters of Minnesota in this office. So that he could officiate as governor between 27 September 1951 to 5 January 1955. During his reign the industry has been promoted in Minnesota. In the field of health care, some laws have been improved for nervous patients. The prison and the prison system were reformed. In 1954, Anderson competed unsuccessfully for reelection.

Further CV

After his governorship Anderson was still mayor of the City of Nisswa and Brainerd. He died in January 1998. Together with his wife Lillian Margaret Otterstad he had two children.
