Albert Montañés

Albert Montanes Roca (born 26 November 1980 as Sant Carles de la Ràpita ) is a Spanish tennis player.

Career

At the age of six years Montanes started playing tennis. He turned professional in 1999. 2001 beat Montanes at the ATP tournament in Estoril Michael Chang and Karol Kučera, before he lost to Juan Carlos Ferrero. That same year, Montanes reached the third round of the French Open, he could repeat in 2002. In the same year the Spaniard at the ATP tournament in Rome, the former world No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten beat.

2004 Montanes reached the second round at Wimbledon, where he lost to Alexander Popp. 2005 moved the Spaniard in the second round of the U.S. Open. In 2006 and 2007 he again reached the third round of the French Open. On 2 August 2010 Montanes was ranked 22 in the world rankings, his highest ever placing.

He played in 2007 in the tennis league for the TK Kurhaus Aachen and is currently reported for the Rochus Club Dusseldorf.
