Alex Auld
Alexander Auld ( born January 7, 1981 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Hockey League since July 2012.
Career
Auld played during his junior time in the North Bay Centennials in the Ontario Hockey League. He was selected in the second round as the 40th NHL Entry Draft in 1999 by the Florida Panthers. He stayed in North Bay and was replaced in 2001 by the Panthers to the Vancouver Canucks. In 2001 he participated with the Canadian junior national team at the World Youth Championship, where the team finished in third place.
From then on he played a few years for the farm team of the Canucks that. Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League But before the NHL lockout in 2004/05 was finally allowed to play for Vancouver when he stepped in for the injured Dan Cloutier Auld. The same was true for the majority of the 2005/06 season, in which Cloutier had to undergo ligament surgery after he injured himself in a game against the Anaheim Ducks in February. From this game until the end of the season formed therefore Alex Auld the backbone of the team. In the Hockey World Cup 2006, he played for the Canadian team. For the season 2006/ 07 Auld joined in a swap along with Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan Allen of the Canucks to the Florida Panthers, the charges for Roberto Luongo and Lukas Krajíček, as well as a draft law to the Canucks.
Auld made at the beginning of the season on an equal footing goalkeeper coach drawn by Ed Belfour, but after an injury he was a total of only 27 games contest and his contract was not renewed. He then moved in summer 2007 to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he first was able to recommend for the NHL squad, but was named after the signing of Ilya Brysgalow to the San Antonio Rampage, the AHL farm team the Coyotes sent. In December 2007, he was finally transferred to the Boston Bruins. From 2008 to 2010 the Canadians played for the Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers before he was hired for the 2010/11 season of the Canadiens de Montréal.
July 1, 2011 Auld signed a contract for one year with the Ottawa Senators. For the following season 2012/13, the Canadian was taken from the EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League contract.
