Todd Bertuzzi

Todd Bertuzzi ( born February 2, 1975 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player of Italian descent. He currently plays for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League on the position of the right winger.

Career

Bertuzzi played four years in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with Guelph Storm. During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 by the leaders of the New York Islanders in the first round at a total of 23 positions. In the summer of 1995, he received his first NHL contract with the Islanders. In the following season 1995/96 he played sometimes even for the International Hockey League club Utah Grizzlies, but this year he spent the majority of in the NHL. After another season in New York, he was transferred on February 6, 1998, together with Bryan McCabe and Jarkko Ruutu in exchange for Trevor Linden of the Vancouver Canucks.

Bertuzzi was in the subsequent period in eight seasons for the Canucks on the ice and was among the top performers in his team. After the offensive player in his first season in Vancouver already achieved 15 points scorer in 22 games, he increased his yield point before in 96 games, he scored 103 times during the 2002/ 03 season. For the 2006/07 season Bertuzzi joined in a swap together with Alex Auld and Bryan Allen of the Canucks to the Florida Panthers, the charges for Roberto Luongo and Lukas Krajíček as well as a draft law to the Canucks.
