Alfa Romeo Sprint

Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint (1976-1983)

The Alfasud Sprint ( from spring 1983 only Sprint ) was a three-door station wagon coupe of the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo Alfasud on base.

History

The Alfasud Sprint was released in September 1976 and was sold until December 1989. The construction differs from the Alfasud sedan ( April 1972-June 1983 ) significantly. The body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Various similarities to the at the same time also designed by Giugiaro VW Scirocco I are therefore no coincidence.

The Sprint disposal compared to the normal Alfasud a fully independent body design. The technical features were like the Alfasud front-wheel drive and a longitudinally -lying water-cooled boxer engine with four cylinders.

The engine initially started at 1.3 liters, they then evolved in the course of the facelift in spring 1983 to 1.4 and 1.5 liters. Later, the 1.7-liter engine from the Alfa Romeo was still installed 33.

With a production figure of 121 434 pieces of the Alfasud Sprint is one of the successful models of the Alfa Romeo brand. However, have rust and various workmanship - as in the sedan - the joy of owning the car often severely limited.

Special models

During the production period, various special models were introduced to the market, which usually differed by a sporty look of the series and their marketing was sometimes also limited only to certain countries. In motorsport, the vehicle was often used.
