Alina Gherasim

Alina Gherasim ( Camelia Alina Gherasim, born Tecuta; born November 10, 1971 in Galaţi ) is a Romanian long-distance runner, who had their greatest success in the marathon.

National title she won once over 5000 m ( 1997) and four times each over 10,000 m ( 1993, 1997, 2000, 2006 ) and Marathon ( 2005-2008).

In 1996 she won the Paris Marathon and the Reims Marathon. In 1997 she won the Marrakech Marathon and the Paris Half Marathon and was second in the Paris Marathon, but did not reach at the World Athletics Championships in Athens the goal. Also in 1998 was followed by a second place in Paris a premature end at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest.

She finished third for the half marathon competition of the Marrakech Marathon, fourth in Paris in 1999 and came at the World Championships in Seville on the 25th place. The following year, she was again runner-up in Paris, ranked at the Olympic Games in Sydney, the rank 29 and arrived at the World Half Marathon Championships in Vera Cruz on the 31st place.

In 2001 she was again in Paris as third on the podium and ran at the World Championships in Edmonton one on the 30th place.

In 2002 she won the 25th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Brussels. At the Amsterdam Marathon she came in fifth goal, however, was tested positive in a doping control on anabolic steroids and locked because of this breach of the doping regulations for two years.

In 2005, she returned to the competition scene, winning the Monaco Marathon. In 2006, she won the Marrakech Marathon, finished fourth at the Nagoya Marathon, Fifth in Paris and arrived at the European Championships in Gothenburg on the 17th Place. She was fifth at the Istanbul Marathon to Saisonausklag and won the California International Marathon.

In 2007 she defended her title in Marrakech, was tenth in Nagoya and arrived at the world championships in Osaka on the 28th place. In the road race World Championships in Udine she was ten.
