Climate

The annual rainfall is 742 millimeters. The rainfall is in the middle third of the monitoring stations of the German Weather Service. 50 percent indicate lower values. The driest month is October; most rains in June. The wettest month falls about 1.9 times more rainfall than the driest month. The seasonal fluctuations in precipitation are in the upper third. In over 77 percent of all places, the monthly rainfall varies less.

History

Altenthann belonged to Rentamt Straubing and the district court Stadtamhof of the Electorate of Bavaria. The monastery Frauenzell had here from 1664 to the secularization an open Hofmark. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. see also Castle Altenthann

Incorporations

In 1945 or 1946, until then independent municipality Pfaff Fang ( county Roding ) and parts of the community Göppenbach were incorporated. On January 1, 1978, added Wood.

Culture and sights

  • Hunting lodge Aschenbrenner torture from 1900 in Forstmühler Forestry
  • St. Nicholas Parish Church: The Church of St. Nicholas, built in 1712 burned in 1832 from almost completely and was canceled in 1904 for the most part and replaced by a new building of Henry Hauber Sandriesser. Only the side altars and the pulpit date back to the year 1830. The high altar of Josef Wittmann is from 1910.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

There were 1998 in the field of agriculture and forestry not, in industry 69, and in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace.
