History
Hagelstadt 842 was first documented, long Erling ( castellum Erilinga ) 863-885 and Gailsbach ( Geilunaspah ) 888
On the occasion of the 1100- year celebration 1988 by the community Hagelstadt a home directory on the district Gailsbach ( Author: Benedikt Heigl ) issued.
Incorporations
On 1 July 1972, until then an independent city Gailsbach was incorporated. Height of mountain ( with the incorporated on April 1, 1949 the rest of the former municipality Waxenberg ) and Long Erling were added on 1 May 1978.

Coat of arms
Blazon: In red one is swept silver tip, is a red rooster, front a silver clad men torso without arms with imperial crown, behind a vertical silver key. The emblem has been used since 1983.
