Ambelokipi (Greek Αμπελόκηποι ( m. pl. ) ), Also called Eptalofos, de facto is a district of Thessaloniki and de jure a district of the municipality Ambelokipi - Menemeni in the Regional District Thessaloniki, the Greek region of Central Macedonia. By 2010 it was a separate municipality.

Ambelokipi is located northwest of the center of Thessaloniki. Banchbart are the districts Evosmos, Menemeni, Stavroupoli, Neapolis and the city center itself Ambelokipi has a high population density of 20,732.7 people per square kilometer. (As of 2011 ). At only 1.803 km ² area of the municipality a resident population of 37 381 in 2011 was determined.

The origin of Ambelokipi is the settlement area Eptalofos. This has been building constructions from 1913. 1922-1923 there was a significant increase in the population of an influx of Greek refugees from Asia Minor, which after the Greek defeat in the Greco- Turkish war of 1919-1923 as part of the so-called population exchange pursuant to the Treaty of Lausanne (1923 ) their homelands in the field of had to leave Turkey today. Ambelokipi was first mentioned in 1926 as part of the former municipality Harmanköy (Greek Charmankioi Χαρμάνκιοϊ ). In 1928 the church was built as Zoodohos Pigi denominational center of the former settlement area Ambelokipi. 1929, the municipality was dissolved and Charmankioi Ambelokipi integrated into the city of Thessaloniki. In 1934, by government order the removal of the community Ambelokipi of the city of Thessaloniki and the establishment of a separate municipality (Greek κοινότητα ). Elements of this newly formed congregation were the settlements Eptalofos - Kaistrio Pediococcus and Margariti. The inhabitants of these settlements was 4,000 in 1932. On October 6, 1954 Ambelokipi was promoted by order of the King of Greece from a municipality to a city (Greek Δήμος ) ( roughly comparable to the granting of town rights in Germany ). This church was in 2010 merged with the neighboring Menemeni, the two communities continue to exist as municipal districts. The seat of the new municipality is Ambelokipi.

Ambelokipi has repeatedly kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools. In addition Ambelokipi has a theater, a cultural center and a concert hall. Several sports halls and a stadium with the capacity of 4,000 spectators are in the field.

Immediately south of the city, the railway line Thessaloniki - Athens - Thessaloniki Evzoni and runs along with the final station, the railway station of Thessaloniki. About the currently under construction metro in Thessaloniki receives Ambelokipi also connected to the city center of Thessaloniki ( Metro Station ). The public transport system is currently being carried exclusively by buses OASTH.
