Andreas Lilja

Andreas Lilja ( born July 13, 1975 in Helsingborg ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defender, who plays for Rögle BK HockeyAllsvenskan since 2013.

Career

Andreas Lilja started his career in 1991 in Sweden at the Junior Malmö Redhawks. 1994/95 he played for the professionals of Malmö his first three games in the Elitserien, before he was in season out of the tribe squad of the team. 1997/98 he played half the season with Mora IK in the 1st division in Sweden, but then returned back to Malmö, where he played for two more years.

In the NHL Entry Draft 2000, he was then selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round at position 54 and moved a few months later to North America, where he joined the almost the entire season with the Lowell Lock Monsters, a farm team of the LA Kings, in unterklassigen AHL spent. Twice he came this year in the NHL for Los Angeles used.

2001/ 02 he was allowed to play more often for Los Angeles, but he could not prevail as master players. The season 2002/ 03 he started for the Kings, but in November 2002 he was transferred to the Florida Panthers, where he belonged to the tribe squad and played until the summer of 2004. He then signed a one -year contract with the Nashville Predators, but he never played for the team since the NHL season was canceled in 2004/05 because of the lockout and he later received a new contract.

While in the NHL no games were played, Lilja moved to his home and played the season with Mora IK. In February 2005, Andreas Lilja, Henrik Tallinder and Kristian Huselius suspected of raping a 22 -year-old. The three hockey player was identified by a surveillance camera images. Lilja was subsequently suspended from Mora IK, the case against the three Swedes but discontinued due to lack of evidence in June 2005.

In the summer of 2005 he received a contract with the Detroit Red Wings and completed all the games of the season 2005/06. Even in the playoffs, he came for the top favorites for use, but the team already retired in the first round.

Shortly after the end of the season, the Red Wings extended the contract with Lilja by two years. 2006/ 07 came Lilja injury on only 57 missions. But in the playoffs he was fit again and shot in the Western Conference Finals his only goal in the season.

After the 2009/10 season Lilja became a free agent and participated in a training camp of the San Jose Sharks, but got no contract. Shortly after the start of the season, in October 2010, he was hired by the Anaheim Ducks, who were responding to the violation of Andy Sutton.

On 1 July 2011, he signed a contract as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers and was in consequence both in the NHL and in the AHL with the Adirondack Phantoms used. In 2013 he decided to return to Sweden and was obliged by Rögle BK from the HockeyAllsvenskan.
