Antanas Račas

Antanas Racas ( born August 28, 1940 in Jurbarkas; † February 9, 2014 ) was a Lithuanian politician.

Life

Racas graduated from high school in the Kiduliai Rajongemeinde Šakiai. Then he made the Soviet army service. From 1962 to 1967 he completed his Diploma in Philology at the Vilniaus universitetas. In 1967, he worked as a teacher in Degučiai in Rajongemeinde Zarasai and was deputy director of the school Aviliai. From 1968 to 1976 he was director of the middle school Šaukėnai at Kelmė. From 1990 to 1992 and from 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Seimas. From 2003 to 2011 he was a member of the Council of Rajongemeinde Kelmė.

After Vilnius Bloody Sunday in January 1991, he founded a Lithuanian Information Office in Hüttenfeld and was its director until November 1991. Since 1993 he was a member of Tėvynės sąjunga.
