Arao, Kumamoto
Arao (Japanese荒 尾市, - shi) is a Japanese city in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū.
Geography
Arao is located north of Kumamoto and south of Fukuoka and Kurume.
History
The city Arao was established on April 1, 1942 from the merger of the community Arao (荒 尾 町, machi ) with 4 villages (有 明 村,平 井村,八 幡 村,府 本村) in the district of Tamana.
