Ardiège

Ardiège is a commune with 384 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne and the Région Midi -Pyrénées. The inhabitants are called Ardiéjois.

General

It lies at the northern foot of the Pyrenees, 8 km southeast of Saint- Gaudens in the historic county of Comminges. The population increased from 231 (1962) on today's news.

The local church dates from the 19th century. In the ruins of the old, demolished church a few dedicatory inscriptions were found for the God Leherennus Mars. This is possibly due to a pre-Celtic deity.
