Garin (Haute-Garonne)

Garin is a commune with 134 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne in the Région Midi -Pyrénées.

Geography

The municipality lies in the valley of Garin Larboust middle of the Pyrenees in the historical province of Comminges, about 55 kilometers southeast of Saint- Gaudens. On the Carte de Cassini, showing France in the period 1756-1789, it still bears the name of cooking. The municipality is situated on the banks of Portet, a small tributary of the Neste d' Oô; its inhabitants are called Garinois.

Attractions

The most famous building Garine is the Romanesque Chapelle Saint -Pé de la Moraine (also Chapelle Saint- Tritous ), began its construction in the 10th century and ended in the 11th century. Since 1971, it bears the title of a Monument historique de France. It stands on a glacial moraine. In the masonry of the chapel, a votive altar was built in honor of the Pyrenean Abellio God, which is now kept in the Musée Saint -Raymond in Toulouse ..
