Area Committee

Many of the local administrative units in England, Scotland and Wales, so far as their territory extends over a larger area or a high number of residents, this is divided into smaller units in which Area Committees are responsible for the organization of certain tasks in their area. They also have an advisory role for administrative decisions as it relates to their area. Their members are partly elected and partly seconded from the parent bodies.

England

In the areas of the county, both an Area Committee responsible for the area of ​​each district in the rule. In the unitary authorities, which simultaneously represent indeed only one district, the allocation is based generally on the borders of municipalities, as Ward called, or to constituency boundaries.

Examples:

  • Birmingham - 11 Area Committees for the area of the 11 parliamentary constituencies.
