Armix

Armix is a municipality with a population of 20 (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French department of Ain ​​, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Armix lies 720 m above sea level. Level, about 21 kilometers southeast of the city Ambérieu -en- Bugey (air line). The small village extends in the central Bugey, on a sloping to the south slope in the high Jura high above the deep cluse des Hôpitaux, which ensures as Taldurchbruch the transport connection for railway and road between Ambérieu -en- Bugey and Culoz.

History

Is first mentioned in the 12th century Armix under the name of Armies. The village church was first the monastery of Cluny, later the Cistercian monastery of Saint- Sulpice assumed ( at Thézillieu ). Since the Middle Ages, the village was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. The Treaty of Lyon in 1601 it passed to France.
