Arouna Koné (2012 )

Arouna Koné ( born November 11, 1983 in Anyama, Côte d'Ivoire) is an Ivorian footballer who plays for the national team of the Ivory Coast.

Career

Koné began his career at local club Rio Sport d' Anyama, where he helped to ascend to the first division. Even at age 17 he was appointed to the senior squad. The RC Lens invited him for a trial, but he could not prevail, and then played for Lierse SK in Belgium. After one season, he moved in 2003 to Roda Kerkrade to neighboring Netherlands. There he was able to convince and became the season 2005/ 06 transferred to PSV Eindhoven. Thanks to its strong performance in the Africa Cup 2006 in Egypt for his home country, the Ivory Coast, he was nominated for the World Cup finals. After two strong years in Eindhoven brought him the Sevilla FC in Spain.

On February 1, 2010 Hannover 96 gave his commitment on loan until the end of the season known. However, due to injury he played only eight games for 96th with two goals in that time he could not persuade to such a degree, that as an obligation under the loan period would have qualified for the Lower Saxony in question.

For the 2011/12 season Koné was loaned to Levante UD. After he had scored 15 goals in 34 league games, Levante moved in early July 2012, the option to buy. A month later, however, Koné moved for a transfer fee of 3.8 million euros to the English first division club Wigan Athletic. He signed a three-year contract by the end of June 2015. In the 2012/13 season, Koné was with eleven goals in 34 inserts the top scorer of his team. In May 2013 he won with Wigan Athletic FA Cup with a 1-0 final win against Manchester City. However, at the end of the season the club was relegated to the Football League Championship. Koné Then moved to the 2013/14 season to Everton and signed a three-year contract until June 2016.

Private

Koné is the brother of Bakary Koné, who currently plays in the first division Qatari Lekhwiya. Together, the two took part in the 2006 World Cup. Another brother, Kemoko, currently playing for the reserve team of Arounas former club Roda Kerkrade.
