Arrondissement of Colmar
The arrondissement of Colmar is an administrative district in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region of France.
History
On March 4, 1790, established a " district Colmar " with the establishment of the department of Haut-Rhin, who is also the area of today Arrondissemets Ribeauvillé and Guebwiller involved at the time with. On February 17, 1800 from the district was established.
Since May 18, 1871, the present territory belonged to a circle Colmar in the district of Upper Alsace to the kingdom land Alsace-Lorraine. The group comprised 664 km ² and at that time had 81 438 inhabitants in 1885.
As part of the reintegration of Alsace to France on 28 June 1919 ( Treaty of Versailles), the Arrondissement of Colmar was revived in two ways. It was a district " Colmar -Ville " and a district " Colmar- Campagne " set up.
1934 was recombined into a district.

Geography
The district is bordered to the north by the district Ribeauvillé and the district Sélestat - Erstein in the department of Bas- Rhin, Germany to the east with the government district of Freiburg (Baden- Württemberg), to the south by the district Guebwiller and to the west by the arrondissements Epinal and Saint -Dié -des- Vosges in the Vosges department (Lorraine ).
