Arsis

Arsis is an American Death-/Thrash-Metal-Band from Virginia Beach.

Biography

James Malone and Michael VanDyne, two college students at the Berklee College of Music, founded in 2000 Arsis during the Christmas holidays. A first demo was created in 2001, followed by another in 2002. Session with various members some live shows were performed and 2004, she signed a recording contract with Willowtip Records. The debut album A Celebration of Guilt reached some good reviews in the underground and has been compared to part with Slaughter of the Soul by At the Gates.

A Diamond for Disease, an EP with a 13-minute title track, followed in 2005. U.S. American heavy metal ballet group Ballet Deviare used the song.

2006 saw the second album United in Regret, in which Daath guitarist Eyal Levi as a producer worked. Several tours with, among others Enslaved, God Forbid, Necrophagist, All Shall Perish followed. Then left VanDyne the duo. Darren Cesca, also at Berklee College, got in as the new drummer. In addition, Malone Ryan Knight took a second guitarist in the band. Solid bass player was Noah Martin, who on United in Regret album was already active as a session bassist.

With producer Zeuss (including Agnostic Front, Hatebreed and Municipal Waste ) We Are the Nightmare, which was released in 2008 by Nuclear Blast was created. Shortly thereafter, the line-up collapsed again. A European tour took place in the opening act of Morbid Angel, Kataklysm and Marduk in the fall of 2008. David Kinkade ( Borknagar, drums) and Nick Cordle (bass ) completed the line-up again. For the winter 2008/2009 a U.S. tour has been announced. May 2009 were to see them on the Legacy Open Air Festival and in November they toured with Behemoth, DevilDriver and Scar Symmetry on the Neckbreakers Ball Tour. On March 5, 2012 guitarist Nick Cordle went to Arch Enemy.
